On Your Side was established back in 1995 and has steadily grown as we have taken on new clients. This steady growth has allowed us to remain loyal to our Business Plan and Ethics and we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent relationships with all our clients. Although we deal mainly with HMRC Tax Returns for Self-Assessment and Partnership Tax for all clients, we specialise in clients who are Stage Performers, Back Stage, Theatre and Dance Schools as well as TV and Radio Actors. Our clients base include clients who are currently or have appeared in Billy Elliot, Black Sea, Chicago, Emmerdale, Ghost – The Musical, Hair, Hairspray, Heartbeat, Legally Blonde, Les Miserables, Mad Dogs, Mary Poppins, The Night Manager, Oliver!, Peaky Blinders, Phantom of The Opera, The Rocky Horror Show, The Sound of Music, Wicked, Young Frankenstein and many others.
Bernadette Smith
Bernadette was born and brought up in Lancashire and aged 18 qualified as a Dance Instructor. Due to an injury, a career on stage was not possible, and she started this business, in 1995, as she realised that could do a better job than her own Accountants were doing! She has worked extensively in Finance, since the age of 18, and has qualifications in Forensic Accounts Analysis and Money Laundering, which she wishes to point out does not mean that she is qualified to launder money! She is very interested in the Arts and can often be found sneaking off to watch a matinee or evening show in the West End or Provinces – she has also been known to frequent theatres in mainland Europe
Dave Smith
Dave was born in Kent, but spent most of his youth in Lancashire, before moving back to Kent when he was 18, and has worked in the Financial Sector ever since, including positions with Lloyds TSB Bank (or TSB Bank, as it was then) and the British Film Institute. He has extensive IT Skills and when he is not working on Accounts etc. can often be found tinkering with the inside of his PC – but would like to stress he is not a geek, by any stretch of the imagination. He is also very interested in the Arts and is somewhat of a frustrated Jean Valjean – although he will never admit that to anyone.
